Liver Biopsy

Medivance
Liver biopsy is considered as the gold standard investigation for diagnosing underlying liver disease. It also gives us an accurate assessment of severity of liver disease. It is a very useful tool that is frequently requested by liver specialist when the diagnosis is not apparent on non invasive assessment. It is done by radiologist under ultrasound guidance with local anesthesia. The patient will usually be observed for a minimum of four hours post procedure.
The sample of liver disease is assessed by a pathologist who gives the final report based on the microscopic findings after applying appropriate staining techniques.
